David Itchkawich creates haunting and nostalgic scenes. His intricate surrealistic drawings and etchings imagine worlds that are at once familiar and old fashioned but also timeless and fascinating. Born in 1937 in Westerly, Rhode Island, DAVID ITCHKAWICH is the son of painter, Herman Itchkawich. David spent his boyhood summers on Watch Hill. It is a place that still grips the themes and atmosphere in his work today. He holds a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design. In 1961 he studied in Rome and Florence with the RISD European Honors Program. After working briefly in advertising and illustration, he began devoting himself primarily to the art of etching. He currently lives and works in Maine.
