THOMAS ADKINS is a seasoned veteran of plein air painting. "I am intrigued by nature’s moods, mystery, and atmosphere, along with its inherent design. Our reactions to nature can change daily and hourly. Every good landscape painting should have a sense of how the artist is experiencing the environment in the moment.” Single-family farms and working harbors, those rapidly vanishing New England fixtures, figure often in Tom’s work. He tries to capture “the emotional and spiritual inspiration of what remains, rather than of what has been lost.”

As a former art director and creative director for advertising agencies in Connecticut and New York, Tom’s designs and illustrations have been used by Black & Decker, Kraft Foods, GE, IBM, Minolta, Nestlé Waters North America, Wendy’s and other major corporations.

After graduating from the Paier College of Art, Tom studied at the School of Visual Arts of New York. He exhibits widely and has won numerous awards. His work is held in numerous private and public collections, including the New Britain Museum of American Art, The Mattatuck Museum, Aetna Insurance, Hilton Hotels Private Collection, Timex Corporation, and Webster Bank.
