CATHERINE PUCCIO first fell in love with oil painting in the traditional manner, as a student, while at the Ridgewood Art Institute (NJ) and under the tutelage of Arthur Maynard and, later, John Phillip Osborne.
She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from Williams College and Master’s Degree in Art and Education from the University of Bridgeport. She taught elementary and middle school art in Massachusetts and Connecticut for fifteen years and went on to teach oil painting at the Ridgewood Art Institute.
Catherine’s love for animals is evidenced in her portraits of them. Along with her pursuit of truth in nature, she captures, often with humor, the personality and spirit behind the portrait. She strives for a similar vibrant connection in her still lifes, landscapes, and figures. Catherine believes that the artist is a storyteller who highlights the beauty in the ordinary.
